Autumn 1
What a start to Reception we have had! Well done Little Stars and Little Moons!
The children have really settled into their school routines. They’ve been exploring both inside and outside the classroom – splashing in the water, playing in the sand, and building outdoors. Inside, their creativity has flourished through painting, collaging, building, role-playing, and getting hands-on with playdough. It has been a blast watching them engage and thrive in their new environment!
π» Meet Riley, Our Rights Bear!
We’re excited to introduce Riley, our Rights Bear. Riley is here to help remind us of the importance of making the right choices, staying safe, and creating a happy environment. Riley plays a big role in supporting the children to be respectful and mindful of their actions.
In Reception this term, we’re focusing on the right every child has to a clean environment. We’re encouraging the children to keep our classroom tidy and to respect all our resources by making sure everything is put back in its proper place. π§Ήπ§Έ To reinforce this, we’ve created a class reward jar. β Every time we see children respecting this right, they get to add a star to our jar. Once it’s full, we’ll celebrate together with a class party! π We’re so proud of how well the children have worked as a team this week, taking care of our classroom and its resources.
We’ve also been focusing on learning more about ourselves. The children have brought in family photos, and we’ve been exploring these together, talking about our families and what makes us special. It’s been a wonderful way for the children to share and celebrate their unique backgrounds with each other. π¨π©π§π¦π Alongside learning about our families, the children have been expressing themselves through art, using a variety of media to create their own self-portraits. Their creativity has shone through, and we’re thrilled to share some of their amazing artwork with you! π¨ποΈ
π³ Forest Fun
We have started our Forest School fun and had an amazing time! The children had the opportunity to explore their environment by climbing trees, building bug houses, digging for worms, and engaging in imaginative play in our mud kitchen. These activities not only sparked their creativity but also fostered a love for nature and teamwork. πΏπ
π Our New Topic Book: Oliver’s Vegetables
Our new topic book is Oliver’s Vegetables. We’ve started exploring different fruits and vegetables, and today the children enjoyed painting with vegetables and drawing fruits. ππ₯ Outside, they got hands-on with pumpkins, discovering what’s inside. π We have plenty more exciting activities planned for the rest of the week!
