• Above are images of the staff members that you will find within our Nurture class. We will all be available to speak to after school on the yard but also are available to message through class dojo when needed. 

Timetable for Spring 1

Uniform 

• Above you will find an image of our school uniform. As a school, we do expect children to wear the correct uniform apart from P.E. days and different events that our school may support such as Children in Need etc. 

P.E. 

• Above you will find an image of our school P.E. kit. Our P.E. day is on Wednesday and this will stay the same throughout the year. We will carry out an indoor P.E. session followed by an outdoor P.E. session on a Wednesday afternoon. 

Spring 1 

Homework

Maths homework will be sent home, on a worksheet, every Friday and is expected back to school the following Friday.

Reading books are set to the children's reading level and will be changed every Friday. We ask that you read 3 times per week and record this in the child's reading record, this could be a quick signature. 

Spellings are posted on class dojo every Friday and the children will be tested on these the following Friday. 

• We ask that all children try and complete their homework on a weekly basis to ensure that the skills that the children have learnt within class are revisited to strengthen the children's knowledge.

Maths

In our nurture class, we  teach 3 curriculums. The children are grouped and taught the curriculum that suits their needs and ability as suppose to their age range. We teach the Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 curriculum. 

In Spring term we will be focusing on:

Year 1 : Multiplication, Division, Fractions and Numbers to 100

Year 2: Pictograms, Word Problems and Money

Year 3: Length, Mass and Volume

Reading

In our nurture class, we have 2 different groups being taught. The children are grouped and taught the curriculum that suits their ability. We teach RWI  set 3 sounds and a Year 2 (with elements of Year 3) curriculum reading lesson that follows our school reading sequence. 

Writing 

In our nurture class we have 2 different groups being taught. The children are grouped and taught the curriculum that suits their ability. We have a colourful semantics group and a Year 2 curriculum (with elements of Year 3) writing lesson that is taught. 

This term we will be focusing on:

Colourful Sematics: Knowing what word classes are within a sentence and forming a simple sentence, using the correct punctuation. 

Writing: We will be carrying out a number of different pieces of writing using 'The Minpins'. We will be completing a newspaper article and a letter, attempting to use chronological order, direct speech and fronted adverbials!

Science

This term, our topic are Balanced Diet and Skeletons and Digestion and Teeth.

Balanced Diet and Skeletons: The children will learn the main parts and functions of a skeleton.

Digestion and Teeth: The children will learn the parts of the digestive system and the functions of different organs. The children will also learn the different types and the functions of human teeth.
